IV Nutrient Therapy Specialist, Sequim, WA

Jonathan Collin, MD, has been dedicated uses the Myers cocktail, which is named after the doctor who created IV nutrient therapy. The Myers IV infusion is designed to promote overall health and wellness by providing magnesium, calcium, vitamin C, and B vitamins, including vitamin B12. To learn more about the benefits of IV nutrient therapy for your health and wellbeing, call one of the offices in Sequim, Washington.

What are the benefits of IV vitamin and mineral treatment?

When you take an oral supplement, it goes through your stomach and into your small intestine, where it’s absorbed into your bloodstream. By comparison, vitamins and minerals delivered intravenously go immediately into your bloodstream, where they’re rapidly carried to cells throughout your body.

A second benefit of IV infusion is that you can receive a larger dose. Oral supplements encounter several problems that prevent the full dose from getting into your bloodstream. For example, low stomach acid, deficient digestive enzymes, and health conditions, like inflammatory bowel disease, can all reduce the absorption of nutrients.

Another significant roadblock is that your small intestine can only absorb a limited amount of nutrients at one time. You don’t need to worry about such limitations when you get IV vitamins and minerals.

What nutrients will I receive in my IV vitamin and mineral treatment?

Dr. Collin uses the Myers cocktail, which is named after the doctor who created IV nutrient therapy. The Myers IV infusion is designed to promote overall health and wellness by providing magnesium, calcium, vitamin C, and B vitamins, including vitamin B12.

Dr. Collin also provides two additional vitamin and mineral treatments:

IV vitamin C

As one of your body’s most important antioxidants, vitamin C is often administered intravenously to help treat cancer, fibromyalgia, and infections. Using an IV infusion is essential because blood levels of vitamin C are tightly controlled and limited when it’s taken orally. This control is bypassed with an IV infusion, so you can receive a higher dose.

Intramuscular injection of vitamin B12

Your small intestine can only absorb a small amount of vitamin B12 at one time. With an intramuscular injection, you get a therapeutic dose of vitamin B12, which rapidly treats a deficiency.

What health benefits might I gain from IV vitamin and mineral treatment?

In addition to quickly treating a nutrient deficiency, IV infusions provide the extra vitamins and minerals you need when illness, chronic disease, injury, or intense athletic training demand extra nutritional support.

Dr. Collin may also use IV nutrients as part of your treatment for a medical condition. The Myers cocktail helps treat:

  • Acute asthma attacks
  • Migraines
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Upper respiratory tract infections
  • Chronic sinusitis
  • Seasonal allergies

To learn whether you might benefit from IV vitamin and mineral treatment, call Jonathan Collin, MD.
