Chelation Therapy Specialist, Everett, WA

Everyone is exposed to toxic metals in the environment, whether it’s mercury in contaminated fish or lead in plumbing, paint, or soil. The most effective way to remove toxic metals and unwanted minerals from your body is with chelation therapy, pronounced “key-lay’-shun.” Jonathan Collin, MD, provides chelation therapy for patients with circulation disorders or toxic metal poisoning. As a Diplomate of the American Board of Chelation Therapy, Dr. Collin is one of the leading chelation experts. To schedule an appointment, call one of the offices in Everett, Washington.

What is chelation therapy?

Chelation is a medical treatment that eliminates toxic metals and unwanted minerals from your body. When you undergo chelation, Dr. Collin administers a medication, such as EDTA, using an intravenous infusion.

Once the medication is in your bloodstream, it binds with toxic metals, such as iron, lead, and mercury. After the metal binds with EDTA, it can’t cause injury or disease and it’s eliminated during urination.

What are toxic metals and how do they affect my health?

Lead, mercury, iron, aluminum, cadmium, and arsenic are some of the most common and dangerous toxic metals or heavy metals. These metals are used in industry, agriculture, technology, and medicine. As a result, they end up contaminating the water, air, and soil, subsequently finding their way into the foods you eat.

As you’re exposed to heavy metals, they accumulate in tissues inside your body. Eventually, they reach toxic levels that are harmful to your health. Heavy metal toxicity may damage your:

  • Lungs
  • Liver
  • Bones
  • Endocrine glands
  • Central nervous system
  • Cardiovascular system
  • Gastrointestinal system

Chelation therapy is an effective way to flush toxic metals from your body.

What symptoms develop due to heavy metal toxicity?

The symptoms often associated with heavy metal toxicity include:

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Anemia
  • Difficulty learning or remembering new information
  • Brain fog or trouble concentrating
  • Neurological disorders
  • Cognitive decline
  • Joint of muscle pain
  • Depression and anxiety

Some toxic metals can also cause autoimmune diseases.

Does chelation help cardiovascular disease?

EDTA helps eliminate substances that are known to contribute to cardiovascular disease, such as lead, cadmium, and calcium, which combines with cholesterol to form dangerous plaque in your blood vessels. Dr. Collin evaluates patients to determine if chelation treatment should be used together with their other cardiovascular treatment.

A study called the Trial to Assess Chelation Therapy (TACT) tested chelation therapy in adults over the age of 50 who had suffered a heart attack. The results showed that chelation therapy lowered the risk of subsequent cardiovascular events like heart attack, stroke, and angina (chest pain).

The study also revealed that combining chelation with vitamin and mineral therapy further improved the results. Patients who received nutrient supplements reduced cardiovascular events by 26% compared to those who didn’t take supplements.
